Dr. Declan O’Rourke is a Consultant Paediatric Neurologist at Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) at Temple Street and the Central Remedial Clinic (CRC) in Clontarf. He is an Associate Clinical Professor at University College Dublin (UCD) and holds Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer positions at both the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) and Trinity College Dublin.

He completed his higher specialist training in Ireland and undertook international clinical fellowships, including training in epilepsy at Boston Children’s Hospital and in neuromuscular medicine at Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. O'Rourke was awarded his Doctorate of Medicine (MD) from University College Dublin and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (FRCPI).

Dr. O’Rourke’s clinical practice is focused on paediatric neurology, with a specific sub-specialisation in neuromuscular disorders. He also serves as the Associate Director of Research at Children's Health Ireland. He is an active researcher and Principal Investigator in numerous clinical trials, with a particular interest in advancing patient care through the implementation of precision medicines, gene-based therapies, and national screening initiatives..
