Video consultations are a simple and secure way to see your child’s doctor, nurse, or health and social care professional. You can attend from the comfort of your own home, saving you time and travel. We will only offer video consultations if we think it’s a good alternative to attending a face-to-face appointment. You can speak to your healthcare provider if you’d prefer a face-to-face appointment. Sometimes it may still be necessary to come to the hospital. For example, if we need to examine your child or do some other tests.
Before your appointment
To take part in a video consultation you will need a computer, laptop or smartphone with a working microphone and camera. You’ll also need a good internet connection.
Before your appointment, check everything is working by making a test call:
The day of your appointment
To help your video consultation run smoothly, you should:
● choose a well lit, private room
● turn off any background noise such as TVs or radios
● have information about your child’s symptoms and medication ready
● have a list of any questions you want to ask the doctor or nurse
5 to 10 minutes before your appointment, enter the appropriate virtual waiting room.
Please do not enter a virtual waiting room without an appointment. Patients who do not have an appointment will not be seen.
