Emergency Care Unit (ECU)

The Emergency Care Unit (ECU) is open 24 hours, 7 days a week.

The Emergency Care Unit treat all medical emergencies and walk-in trauma.

The Government Levy of €100 will apply for attending.

If the situation is an emergency and your child needs emergency care, dial 999/112 and ask for an ambulance.

Getting here

The hospital is easily accessible by car, bus or Luas. It is close to the M50 motorway and the N81. Parking on site is limited. Please use public transport if you can.

We have a range of facilities within the hospital to help make your visit as comfortable as possible.



There is a coffee shop located on the ground floor of CHI at Tallaght to the right of the Outpatient Department Entrance. Mon – Fri 8am to 6pm.



Located in the Main Reception area of Tallaght Hospital. Opening Hours: Mon to Fri 8am – 9pm. Sat 9am – 8pm. Sun 10am – 8pm



Guest Wi-fi access is available in the hospital



There is an ATM located on the ground floor of the Tallaght Hospital.

All of our disabled car parking bays are close to the main entrances.

We follow national guidance and legislation in this area, and operate under Children First. Whilst attending our services, if you are concerned about the protection or welfare of a child please speak to a member of your child’s care team, who can refer the concern to medical social work if appropriate.
