Beech Ward
Beech Ward is a 10-bedded/cots unit, where children and young people requiring surgery and medical investigations/treatment are managed during the day time.
Admissions process
When you arrive, your child will first be seen by our admissions officer and then be admitted by a nurse. Following this a doctor will see you and your child where she or he will obtain consent for your child's procedure. If you have any worries or concerns, please do not hesitate to mention them to any of these staff upon arrival.
It is important that your child brings pyjamas (night clothes) to change into for Theatre. The Surgical lists run throughout the day, however emergencies can occur resulting in delays and your understanding would be appreciated. We will keep you informed on the day.
Post-operative information
Post-operative pain information leaflets will be given to you on your child's discharge, but make sure to be prepared and have Calpol and Brufen at home.
