Children's Health Ireland is excited to share that the National Newborn Bloodspot Screening Laboratory in CHI at Temple Street has successfully completed a significant upgrade of Specimen Gate, our Newborn Lab Information System. This upgrade makes our systems faster, safer, and ready for the future.

What’s New?

  • We’ve upgraded the software that helps process and report newborn bloodspot screening results across Ireland, delivering improvements to workflows and enhancements to data security.
  • The lab’s computer systems and data have moved to a new home at Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) from the HSE, giving us more flexibility.

Important Benefits

  • Stronger protection for sensitive health data
  • The lab is now better prepared for the upcoming move to the NCHI.

This project has received tremendous support from our CHI colleagues in Digital Health, our external partners at HSE, Revvity and Telefónica Tech.

A huge congratulations to the National Newborn Bloodspot Screening Laboratory team at Temple Street for their hard work and dedication over the past few months in delivering this important project while continuing to provide an outstanding care and service to patients across the country.
