What do we offer?
The units also offer a consultation service to professionals regarding issues such as concerns regarding behaviour in the absence of a specific disclosure or grounded concern.
Who are consultations for?
The units offer training to professionals such as Tusla Social Workers. Any professional working with children, young people and families where there is a requirement or need regarding child sexual abuse and related issues can contact the Units directly to make an enquiry.
Consultation
A consultation can provide advice regarding therapeutic work with children who have disclosed or experienced sexual abuse as well as providing consultations to other services in relation to complex presentations in the context of child sexual abuse. The consultation service is provided nationally.
Referrals
Referrals are made to The Alders Unit by professionals (often Tusla Social workers), using our referral form.
Professionals can contact us directly to discuss any queries about a child / young person or about a possible referral.
The referrals team meets weekly to discuss and respond to all referrals.
Parents can also contact the units to discuss concerns they may have about their child.
If you have a concern about child sexual abuse, initial contact should be made with your local Social Work Department in the Child and Family Agency (Tusla)
