Dr Thompson holds a BSc in Neuroscience and a PhD in Neurophysiology from University College Cork, where her research focused on neuro-renal physiology. She completed her Higher Specialist Training in Paediatrics and Neurology in Ireland. Following this, Dr Thompson undertook fellowship training at the Evelina London Children's Hospital, London, in the areas of neuroinflammation, inherited white matter disorders and complex motor disorders.
