Sláintecare and the “Public Only” Consultant Contract

Over recent years, the Irish Government introduced a new Sláintecare consultant contract aimed at reforming how senior doctors work in the public health system. This contract is central to the Sláintecare plan, which aims to improve patient care by reducing waiting times, enhancing senior decision-making presence on-site, and enabling extended operating hours.

Following careful consideration and in line with the new consultants’ contract. Children’s Health Ireland has closed ‘’The Consultants Private Clinic’’ in CHI at Temple Street and CHI at Tallaght as of December 2025.

A reduced Private Clinic remains open in CHI at Crumlin. Outlined below is a list of consultants still seeing patients in the CHI at Crumlin Private Clinic. We are grateful to our patients for their understanding and support during this transition phase.
