What is PBM for?

PBM is recommended to prevent and treat oral mucositis, reducing oral mucositis by up to 70%. We use a “Thor LX2.3” LED device to deliver the light therapy. This involves the patient or the operator holding the device to the sore area for 1 minute. No protective eye wear is required for this.

We also sometimes use a “LaserPen” device. This involves wearing protective eyewear and allowing us to shine a light near the sore areas for 30 seconds to a minute.

Simple. Painless. Quick. Effective.

Treating with the THOR equipment takes minutes. It is so simple that patients can treat themselves.
