Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) welcomes the element of early access to the new hospital building. From today, CHI has access to the Level 6 Ward Block of the NCHI, which allows us to deep clean and bring clinical equipment into the building.
The area provided under this agreement to achieve additional early access is limited; however, we appreciate and will take advantage of any efforts that allow us to start work and help to get the hospital ready and open.
The full commissioning programme will start once the hospital is handed over to CHI, on substantial completion. Substantial completion is where CHI receives the fully completed building from the builders. This period of work, post substantial completion, will take a minimum of seven months. CHI continues to work closely with the National Paediatric Hospital Development Board to identify areas that can be secured in advance of substantial completion so that our team can get access to this amazing new building, transform it into a hospital and get our staff ready to treat and care for the children and young people we serve.
