If your child has been referred to the Alders Unit you may have some questions about what to expect when coming to the service.
Before Your Child's Appointment
Parents/caregivers are initially offered an appointment to hear about the concerns about their child.

We will work together to support you and your child and help you find a way forward.
For Young People
A safe and non-judgemental place to talk about difficult things and challenging feelings. We are here to support you and your family.

Alders are native irish trees. They may look delicate, but they are valued for their resilience, and for their adaptability.

For healthcare professionals
Referrals
Referrals are made to The Alders Unit by professionals (often Tusla Social workers), using our referral form.
Professionals can contact us directly to discuss any queries about a child / young person or about a possible referral.
The referrals team meets weekly to discuss and respond to all referrals.
Parents can also contact the units to discuss concerns they may have about their child.
If you have a concern about child sexual abuse, initial contact should be made with your local Social Work Department in the Child and Family Agency (Tusla)
