Critical Care Medicine

Available locations:

Critical Care Medicine is dedicated to delivering care for the sickest of children and young people.

When children and young people become critically unwell due to illness, injury, or following major surgery, our Critical Care team provides specialist support to facilitate their recovery. This includes the use of advanced technology, monitoring, and medications that can only be safely delivered within the highly resourced environment of the Critical Care Unit.

Our doctors and nurses also provide expert support for acutely unwell children presenting to the Emergency Department or whose condition deteriorates while on the hospital wards. In addition, our team provides specialist advice and guidance to healthcare professionals caring for critically ill children across the country and supports the safe transfer of critically ill infants and children to Children’s Health Ireland when required.
